Please welcome Mrs. Shelley Fabrizio and Dr. Alison Gordon as the new Interim Co-Principals at the School of Dual Language for the 2020-2021 school year.
They both have extensive experience in education. Mrs. Fabrizio has a social work and special education background. She began her career in education at an adolescent day hospital and therapeutic day school. Switching from private to public education, she then served as a social worker, special education coordinator and administrator of an early education program/enrichment program at North Shore School District 112. Prior to retiring in 2019, she was an elementary school principal for two schools with a total of 13 years in Arlington Heights School District 25.
Dr. Gordon has been an elementary school principal for 31 years. The last three school districts she served were Northbrook School District 27, North Shore School District 112, and Skokie School District 73 1/2. During her tenure in Skokie, she was principal of Elizabeth Meyer School, Program Director of the Bilingual and EL Programs and coordinator of the district’s community engagement efforts. Dr. Gordon teaches graduate students in the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University and provides professional learning programs to teachers, coaches, and school leaders. In addition, she serves as a consultant to the Illinois Principals Association.
Mrs. Fabrizio and Dr. Gordon worked together at North Shore School District 112 and are excited about working together again. They will join the Hawthorn community on August 3.
