Meet the Principal

Dear Dual Language Families,

It is with great joy and excitement that I welcome you to a new school year at Hawthorn School of Dual Language! Whether you're returning or joining our school family for the first time, we are so happy you’re here—and I am truly honored to serve as your principal.

Dual Language is a special place where we celebrate biliterate, bicultural, and bilingual education for all students. We value every child’s unique journey and foster a strong sense of community. Our Dual Language program not only builds academic excellence but also nurtures empathy, global awareness, and cultural appreciation.  At the heart of everything we do is a deep commitment to supporting and partnering with families to ensure the great level of success for every child.

I’ve proudly served the Hawthorn community for many years, beginning my Hawthorn career at Aspen Elementary and joining the Dual Language family in 2022, as the Building Assistant Supervisor. I graduated from Augustana College with a Bacehlor of Arts in Elementary Education and have since completed Reading Recovery Certification at National Louis University, earned my master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University Chicago, and received my Special Education (LBS1) Endorsement from Olivet Nazarene University.

Beyond my role as an educator, I’m also a proud mom to two elementary-aged children. As both a parent and principal, I understand how important it is to feel confident that your child is seen, supported, and encouraged every day. Please know that our incredible team of teachers and staff are here to nurture your child’s growth, success, and efforts daily.

This year, we look forward to partnering with you—to cheer on every milestone, to work through challenges together, and to celebrate the growth of each and every student.
