Principals Message

Mi amor por el lenguaje española comenzó al principio del 7o Grado cuando comencé mi primera clase de español en la Escuela Secundaria Highland en Libertyville. Seguí tomando el español a lo largo de mis años en la Escuela Secundaria de Libertyville y durante mis años de colegio en la Universidad de Illinois del Norte. Mi primera experiencia de enseñanza fue en Winthrop Harbor donde enseñé el 3r Grado durante un año. El siguiente año, fui bastante afortunado cuando me ofrecieron una posición en la escuela a la cual asistí como un niño, Escuela Secundaria Highland. Enseñé el 7o y 8o grado durante siete años en la escuela Highland yo amé cada minuto de ello. Durante mi tiempo en Highland, me hice cargo en el mando educativo y decidí comenzar el programa maestro de administración en la Universidad de Illinois . Después de que terminé el programa, me ofrecieron una posición como el director en la Escuela Primaria de North en North Chicago . Yo Aprendí mucho en un año como el director de esta Escuela . Desde allí, me ofrecieron una posición como el director de la Escuela Secundaria de Antioch, donde estuve cuatro años antes de unirme a la familia de la Escuela Hawthorn. Me siento muy afortunado de tener la oportunidad de ser el director de la Escuela Hawthorn de Lenguaje Dual. Esta es una escuela de educación especial y tan única en una comunidad excepcional. Creo que mis antecedentes académicos y amor por el lenguaje español me han conducido a esta posición, y tengo gusto y ganas de trabajar con todos y cada uno de ustedes.

My love for the Spanish language began early in the 7th Grade when I began my first Spanish class at Highland Middle School in Libertyville. I continued to take Spanish throughout my years at Libertyville High School and through my college years at Northern Illinois University. My first teaching experience was in Winthrop Harbor where I taught 3rd Grade for one year. Following that year, I was fortunate enough to be offered a position at the school that I attended as a child, Highland Middle School. I taught 7th and 8th Grade Spanish for seven years at Highland and loved every minute of it. During my time at Highland, I became interested in educational leadership and decided to begin a master’s program in administration through Northern Illinois University. After I finished the program, I was offered a position as building principal at North Elementary School in North Chicago, IL. I learned a great deal in the one year as principal in North Chicago. From there, I was offered a position as building principal at Antioch Upper Grade School, where I spent four years prior to joining the Hawthorn family. I feel very fortunate to be given the opportunity to be principal of Hawthorn School of Dual Language. It is such a unique and special school in an outstanding community. I believe my educational background and love for the Spanish language has led me to this position, and I look forward to working with each and every one of you.
